Our Java PTP Estate Blawan comes from the Ijen Plateau in East Java, where coffee grows between 1,100 and 1,600 metres above sea level, surrounded by volcanic soils and a cool highland microclimate. Blawan is one of Java’s historic coffee estates, part of a coffee-growing tradition that has shaped the island for centuries.

But this isn’t necessarily the heavy, earthy Indonesian coffee you might be expecting. While many Indonesian coffees use semi-washed processing, this Java is fully washed, with around 36 hours of fermentation, followed by careful drying and hand-sorting. The result? A cup that feels cleaner, smoother and more refined, while keeping that unmistakable Indonesian character.

Made up of Typica, Ateng, Kartika and Catimor Arabica varieties, this is a fun origin to play with on the roaster. Try it lighter to explore its cleaner side, or take it further to bring out more body and depth.
