THE BEANS

What is the shelf life of my coffee?

The taste of your coffee beans will change over time. As it concerns green beans, not all experts are on the same page when it comes to this question - some say that the taste gets better as time passes, some disagree. We recommend keeping your green beans no longer than 2 years, as long as they are stored in the conditions mentioned below.

As it concerns roasted beans, especially ground, it is recommended to use them as close to their roasting date as possible. The fresher, the better!

How can I best store my coffee?

You can store your green or roasted beans in an airtight container or vacuum bag in the pantry, away from the light. Make sure that the pantry is neither too humid nor too dry.

Roasting profiles

Colour, taste, size, and consistency gradually change as the coffee beans go through the process of roasting. The required temperature and roasting time depends on numerous factors, including the type of bean and the desired roast.  We offer three types of roast: lightmedium, and dark - use below characteristics to find the best fit for you:

  • Light roasts have a higher acidity, and their origin flavours tend to be more present, resulting in a wide variety of flavours and aromas.
  • Medium roasts offer a bit more body and balance, taking away some complexity, but adding sweetness.
  • Dark roasts are low in complexity, but give you lots of smokeyness and body.

Pricing

Please keep in mind that the price of beans can fluctuate from week to week in correlation with the international coffee markets. All prices, specifications, and offers are subject to change at Queen Bean’s discretion.
